Frequently Asked Questions

Explore the answers to all your questions about your gynecology appointment and healthcare experience.

What is the patient portal?

A patient portal is a secure online website that gives patients convenient 24-hour access to personal health information from anywhere with an internet connection. Using a secure username and password, you can review health information. You can also communicate with the practice to request prescription refills, schedule non-urgent appointments, update contact information, download forms and view educational materials. You can access our portal on our web site at rgoa.com. If you do not have a portal account, call our office at 585-461-5940 to receive assistance with portal setup.

What is the difference between RGOA's portal and MyChart?

RGOA's secure portal allows you to access your information from our practice and to communicate with our practice. MyChart is URMC's patient portal, which reflects services provided at URMC. Information such as lab results ordered by RGOA providers from URMC's lab may appear in MyChart.

Are you accepting new patients?

Yes, most providers are accepting new patients.

Which insurance plans do you accept?

RGOA participates with all of the major local payers including Medicare and Medicaid as well as numerous other plans. However, it is your responsibility to understand your coverage and limitations of which providers you have access to. Due to the vast number of individualized policies and networks, we recommend that you contact your health plan to verify that RGOA is "in-network" for you and to determine your co-pays or applicable deductible and coinsurance amounts. RGOA does not participate with Wellcare, MagnaCare, Martin's Point, Today's Options, Emblem Health/GHI, Humana, faith based cost sharing programs and First Health.

Please be prepared to present identification and your current insurance card(s) at every appointment.

Rochester Gynecologic & Obstetric Associates and all of our physicians are tier-one providers of the Accountable Health Partners, which is a three-tier benefit program from the URMC Health Care plan.

Payment is due at the time of service for all applicable co-payments, deductibles and non-covered services. For your convenience, RGOA accepts all major credit cards as well as cash and checks. Our billing staff will be happy to answer questions regarding charges, insurance billing and payment options.

How do I schedule an appointment?

Office visits are by appointment only. Both routine and urgent appointments can be scheduled by phone by calling 585-461-5940. In addition, you can request non-urgent appointments on our patient portal by clicking on Appointment Request. On the portal, you can indicate the type of appointment and dates and times that may work for you. Our office will schedule your appointment and contact you through the portal to confirm your appointment date and time.

How do I reach your billing office?

Our billing office can be reached at 585-461-5940. Follow the prompts to select the billing department.

Does RGOA participate in Strong Memorial Hospital financial assistance program?

Programs such as Strong Charity Care or UR Medicine discounts are only offered by the URMC providers and facilities and applied to charges for services rendered by those programs.

How can I access patient education brochures from the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology (ACOG)?

To access patient education brochures at no charge from the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists web site, go to www.acog.org; Once on the ACOG web site, click on Publications, then on Patient Education Pamphlets.
